Letter from the Principal

March 30, 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian(s):

We would like to thank all of you for your patience and support that you have provided during this time that we have transitioned to remote learning. We recognize the struggle of supporting your students academically while at the same time dealing with the financial and social challenges that the COVID-19 virus has brought on us all. We applaud all of your efforts and thank you for working with us to help us all navigate through this difficult situation.

We fully understand the challenge that this has presented for all of us and the learning curve that accompanies it. We want you to know that we will continue to make adjustments and support your students throughout this time. Many families have communicated to us that their child is beginning to feel frustrated or overwhelmed by remote learning and are worried about falling behind. In response to this we have decided to extend the third quarter end date from April 3rd to April 17th. This will allow teachers and students to complete and grade work and have it accurately reflected in their third quarter grade. Learning will continue during this time period and students who are on pace for Quarter 3 will have the opportunity to begin work for Quarter 4, as their teachers make it available.

We encourage all students to take advantage of “office hours”, specific times that teachers have set aside each day to help students through Google Hangouts or on the phone. You can find each teachers’ office hours posted in their Google Classroom, website, or you can call the main office at 469-6650 and we will look them up for you.

Parents are also encouraged to reach out to their students’ teachers via email or call the school and we will help connect you. Parents and students may also reach out to their school counselor for additional assistance. Remote learning is not only new for students, it is new for parents and teachers as well. Together we will make the best of these challenging times.

Again, thank you for all you are doing to maintain your students’ education!
